Hoover Nature Trail

Distance: 5.7 miles
Elevation: 124′
Route Type: Trail
Surface Type: Concrete
Cities on Route: Cedar Rapids, Ely, Oasis, West Branch

The Hoover Nature Trail is a shared-use trail with sections in different stages of development. The most complete sections include those near Ely, West Branch, Nichols, Columbus Junction and Morning Sun. The Hoover Nature Trail is part of the American Discovery Trail and will be the longest recreational trail in Iowa when completed.
Today, riders can enjoy the section between Oasis and West Branch, two small Iowa towns with lots of charm. West Branch is the birthplace of Herbert Hoover, Iowa’s only President born in the state, hence the name of the trail. The trail head is located near the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. This section is a combination of grass and crushed stone surface, so riders will want to use a hybrid bike.
Other sections are also completed to varying degrees: see Hoover Nature Trail’s web site for more information.
